Hickory barbecue sauce - a mouthwatering balance of sweet, tangy, and savory. This perfectly versatile sauce mixes up in two minutes. Whether used on beef, pork or chicken, this quick, easy bbq sauce is amazing!
This hickory barbecue sauce recipe comes to you all from my dear mother. I watched her mix it up so many times - adding a little of this and a little of that. And, every time, it turned out perfectly. Although I never had an actual, written recipe for this until I measured everything out to share with you all, the sauce was simple enough to make that, when I began cooking, before long, I had it perfected, too!
Today, I make this regularly for my own family. It is, seriously, my favorite sauce to add moisture and loads of flavor to many of my family's favorite meat main dishes. For example, barbecue meatballs, barbecue ham or ham balls, all are some great, well-loved dishes using this barbecue sauce.
One of the things I love about this sauce is, it uses no special ingredients! All the included ingredients are items that my pantry stays well stocked with, typically. The only ingredient that may be less common is liquid smoke which, can be picked up at your local grocery store for just a few dollars, if needed.
Feel free to be creative and adventurous with the usage of this sauce. Try this on oven roasted meats, as a marinade for chicken on the grill, in baked beans (I have an amazing recipe for bbq green beans using this sauce, too), etc.! Who knows - this hickory barbecue sauce may just become one of those "from memory" recipes you find yourself making regularly, too!
